Are you wanting to learn a ‘slow craft’ to help you relax and de-stress? or simple traditional textile skills to make use of old fabric?

I am running an evening Quilting and Patchwork course in Rozelle starting Tuesday 26th April for 6 weeks. The course will be a combination of my cutting-edge research into sustainable fashion and textiles with the art of quilting and machine/hand sewing. Over the six weeks, you will: work with me to design an original (small sized) quilt pattern or choose a traditional pattern to work on; learn the basic techniques of choosing fabrics; cutting and ironing fabrics; and machine or hand-sewing techniques to make a patchwork design; quilt the layers together and finish with borders and binding.

Throughout the course we will also discuss ideas around sustainable fashion /textiles including emotional durability; up cycling; how to care and repair garments; and the relationship between craft processes and well-being. This methodology of doing and thinking, is based on the idea that simple craft techniques calm us down and allow us to listen and learn in deeper ways.

You will finish the course with a completed (small sized) quilt and a range of new ideas, concepts and strategies that will be useful in your everyday life.

Book online through the College or feel free to email me for any questions you have.
